Oh yeah, haha..... forgot I was going to blog tonight. <_< *checks watch* 12:18 AM. Ah well, not time like the present. I have a few big assignments I need to finish, and if I'm going to stay up late I should be working on those, but I'm not going to. And I have to get up really early tomorrow, too. It's been a long time since I've felt this way. ^_^ x) Actually, it's been a pretty long while since I've even stayed up that late at all, cause I've been trying to get a good amount of sleep so I can start my mornings off better.... unless you count when I stay up till 1 AM every Saturday night cause that's when the weekly Doctor Who episode comes on. <_< *cough* But anyway....
My room is. A. MESS. It hasn't been this messy since..... well I don't think it's even EVER been this bad! @_@ It's like it's retaliating me for some unknown harm by exploding inside itself and making me live in it!! But oh well....
I always really liked having a clean room. ^_^ It makes me feel proud to have my door open for visitors to see when the use the bathroom. xD But slightly messy is a little appealing too, because it gives me the sense of being an artist. "Artists are typically disorganized and misunderstood, V_V" was my my excuse... Because when my room is a little messy, it's proof that I actually live in it. That I'm making and creating in it! That my artistic juices are FLOWING! >=D
But this, this is just... bad. There really is no excuse for an explosion this big in such a small space! It. Is. BAD. >_>
*cough* Anyway. What did I want to talk about? Oh yeah. My job. I really like my job. ^_^ Although it gets annoying having to work at the library when all I want to do is go and read in it! Or write! Or something! But in between putting stuff away I somehow find time to read comics and such, so it's all good I suppose. ;D Plus I haven't hardly been broke since April. xD
All I need is a notebook, a good story, and a small, secluded corner (and possibly an iPod, depending on the weather and noise level), and I can be perfectly content. I wish we had more secluded corners here at our library. Missoula and Kalispell do....I really, really like those libraries. <.< Missoula is so big you can get lost in the nonfiction.... and Kalispell has this epic reading room right next to a big, old-fashioned semi-circle window that overlooks the street. I think I could stay there forever.
On to describe my job itself.
I work at a business - well no, I guess you couldn't really call it a business - a place. I work at a place, a building, full of shelves. Shelves that hold books. Lots of books. I work at a place that is filled to the brim with books, for people to read. They come and sit at the table to read those books, or we let them take our books home to borrow, and they don't have to pay a cent! (Unless they bring it back late). I mean, really think about that concept. A place filled with shelves and shelves of just books, and you can borrow the books from the shelves! It sounds like something out of a Shel Silverstein poem. It's a funny concept, really. I wonder who thought it up.
When I started my job as a page last April, my "mentor", or at least the employee that taught me all the ropes and showed me around, was Melody. I really liked her. She and her husband, Nate, were patients of my mom's too. Although technically, I'm pretty sure almost all the library staff are my mom's patients. <_< She gets to know a lot of people that way..... But anyhow. Melody transferred to the library in Helena about a month after I started. It was really sad. =/ She was replaced by Anna, a tall, slim, bookish quiet type. I've learned though, that she's extremely fun unique and talented. ^_^ She loves all things steampunk, Doctor Who, historical, and unique/crafty. She's pretty good at making stuff too. She made a whole bunch if really intricate snowflakes to put on the window behind the front desk, and made like this epic steampunk laser gun out of one of those squirt guns.... Yeah, she's pretty epic once you get to know her.
Soon after that, Rhonda left to take care of her grandson, in..... uh, some other state, because his mom (Rhonda's daughter) was going in the Army. Rather a noble cause, I think. ^_^ Don't tell anyone, but I kind of like her replacement a wee bit more. >.> Maureen. I don't feel so young and small and inexperienced around her.... plus she makes more conversation with me. And she has this ever-so-slight Brooklyn accent that makes me smile. xD
Next to leave, as I found out right after coming back from my Hawaiian vacation, was my boss, Sami. And I had grown really attached to her in the past months. >=/ Short, spunky, and scatter-brained are some good words to describe her.... She got in the habit of calling me "Spam Girl", after I started wearing my "Slice it! Dice it! Fry it! Try it! SPAM" shirt to work. xD She was always so fun, and was completely disorganized but still managed to keep everything running fine. She was awesome. Mom said to ask her to write me a letter of referral before she left, which I did, and she did.
It was a really, really nice letter.
It was a really sweet goodbye on the last day I saw her.
Sheesh, I'm writing like she's dead! <_< No, she made it to Oregon safely as far as I know..... it was so her kids could be closer to her grandparents. Good idea.
And actually, she clutter has been disappearing significantly since she left and Sarah's been working to clean it up.... funny how that works. xD
Oh yeah, now on to Sarah. Short and spunky, just like Sami. A little more diplomatic and organized, though. xD At first meeting you could easily mistake her for a high-schooler, but she's actually got a bachelor's degree in library science, I believe. She and Sami were like best friends. They always went to lunch and on business trips together. Sarah is/was pretty much the second in command, but I suppose she's the ringleader now..... She's originally from New York (detour: her parents sent her a package of New York apples, and they were THE BEST apples I have EVER eaten, in my LIFE. @_@). She came here 4 years ago for training to become a head librarian or something. So yeah we all knew she was going to leave eventually, but I didn't think it'd be so soon. I mean, not even a month after Sami leaves, she's going to Vermont of Virginia or something.
And all these people leaving happen directly after I start working at the library. <_< I was wondering if it had something to do with me... xD When I told Sarah she said "Yeah it's all your fault! >=( ;D Actually, I blame Melody for starting the breakup of the band. V_V"
The last original person working at the library, is the one I know isn't going anywhere. Her name is Lynn, and she's been the librarian here for as long as I can remember. It's weird and cool to think that she's watched me grow up, and now I'm working with her! Everyone knows Lynn. ^_^
Oh yeah and then there's Mr. Walker, a regular library volunteer who I found out a few weeks ago was my dad's 5th grade teacher! It was pretty cool, Dad got out his yearbook and showed me a picture.
He had hair... <_< xD He's really nice, though. Dad says Mr. Walker was his favorite teacher when he was in gradeschool. It's funny how small towns run like that.
Well, I guess that's it. Got a 3 hour drive to a funeral tomorrow. >_> Fun fun....
