Haha, see what I did there? The... title, with the... hahaha....aha... >.> Oh nevermind....
Anyways.... I now sit to tell you the tale of how I finally acquired mya permit for da driving. V_V Yes, oh yes, it really happened. (*jumps up and down* it really happened!!! >xD) (Finally!!)
<_< >_> *ahem* Anyways.... moving on.
Our tale begins on late Wednesday morning, when I finally got out of my math test of which I dearly, dearly hope I got at least a B. Mom picked me up and took me to Young Guns Pizza, where some of the homeschool group was having a tour. Since I was in class while everyone got to make their personal pan pizzas, I ate the one Mom made for me.
We decided to give Monica Vogel a ride home. She's pretty shy, but pretty cool once she warms up to you. Her house was across the river, so Mom decided we might as well just take me in to take my test before taking her home, and Monica agreed. ^_^
I think sitting in the waiting room is was killed me the most. Everyone said the test itself was easy, but the worst part was the lady administering it. The words "smile" and "encouragement" don't seem to be in the vocabulary. I already learned that when I went in to pick up a driver's manual last year.
Actually, the lady was really nice. Guess it was a different one. There were two ladies, actually. The less-nice of the two looked at my ID, back up at us, and said "We need a birth certificate or a valid passport. v_v" Sighing and smacking ourselves for not remembering, Mom and I took Monica home, then went back to our home to get it. Mom grabbed her copy with my social security card, and we drove back. We gave it to the nicer lady. But apparently, they couldn't accept our photocopy. They needed the official thing. -.-
>=( @_@ Ssooooooo we went to the bank for the safety deposit box. Mom retrieved my actual birth certificate with my baby footprints, and the original social security card. When we brought them back, the baby looked up at us with an "I'm so sorry" expression.
"This is the one for the baby book," she said, "You need to get the one from the courthouse. =/ It's $5."
>_> -___- <_< #_# @_@ DB< >=( >x(
"Rachel," said Mom as we walked back out for the third time, with an @_@ish expression, "You better darn-well pass that test!"
Ssooooooo we went to the courthouse and went to the desk. I showed them my student ID. The people that knew Mom commented on how tall I was and the last time they saw me I was just starting to walk. By this time I was just a little ticked-off. Not their fault, of course.
We paid the $5 and went off.
And finally - finally! - we went back for the final time. We really, really hoped, at least.
And it was.
I think the lady was just as happy to find that we got the right certificate as we were. She felt really bad having to send us back again. I took a seat in front of the not-as-nice lady's desk. She asked me to put my forehead up to one of the vision test things that looked like a...... oh one of those things you had when you were a kid that looked like binoculars, and you could put the slides in, and they had the slides with the pictures from movies and stuff.... oh, I can't remember what it's called for the life of me. e_e
I put my forehead up to the one next to the candy bowl that said "vegetables" on the side.
I've got pretty good eyes, so it that part was easy. So, she had me sit in front of the blue background to take the picture. I sat there, smiling, awkwardly..... was she going to take the picture? <_< Oh, she was still typing something.
"Okay smile!" Then *click!* I made a quick smile just in time.
And finally! I got to go to the quizzing machine. It displayed my information and said "please notify the desk if it is not correct." Aaannd of course, they just had to spell me name with one T. e_e Cause my student ID had spelled it that way. I went up and told them, they apologized, and I went back to the test. I sweated alot during those 33 questions, but ending up missing only 5. Most of them were from ignoring my first instinct, or simple errors like reading it wrong. Eh, better than nothing.
They printed off my paper permit, and handed it to me with the pamphlet to record my driving hours in. I wasn't too please with my dorkish smile. Ah well, it's only for 6 months anyway. ;)
And soo.... this is what I wake up to the day after.
So yes, you can understand my pain because I knew there was no way Mom and Dad would let me drive to town now. >=( But somehow, Dad let me drive all the way home in the dark last night! ;D Mom "wasn't comfortable" with me doing it with her today though. Oh well. I'm just happy to legally be able to drive on the highway now! ^_^ We'll work on actually getting permission next, I guess. November's not the most opportune time around here...
