Not for me, not through my eyes

The past week has been a roller coaster in so many ways. @_@ I've learned so much, and fallen on my face and had Him pick me up again... time, after time, after time. With everything being so busy it's hard to focus on Him. Especially with my schedule. =P But He keeps reminding me that He is the only thing worth living for. He is the Lord of Life. Semester finals are at the end of the week, so I was skimming over my old English assignments to study this morning and found a short article I wrote about a lesson I heard at Bible camp last summer. *pulls it up*

In July of 2011, Glacier Bible camp in Hungry Horse, Montana, held a Bible camp for high school – age kids. A talk was given one of the mornings at camp, in a class called “It’s un-Christian to be bored”. The teachers of this class were two brothers-in-law, who, ironically, met at the same camp at which they were speaking now. One of the first Bible verses they gave was 2 Peter 3:15 - Always be ready to give an account for the hope that is in you, with gentleness and reverence. They encouraged the students to get out of their own little “boxes”- to stop focusing on ourselves, and make a point to interact with others- and discouraged what they called “me spirituality”; when we get so hung up on our own spiritual growth to see everything going on around us.The speakers made some statements for the students to think about before they left class that day:·         Don’t be too “Christian to hang around immoral things - even Jesus hung out with sinners!
·         Just love people, with no strings attached.
·         Make sure to listen to people – take time to hear their story, before trying to shove God in their face.

So the "me spirituality" part really hit me. Again. All this time I've been focusing on my own spiritual walk, instead of trying to help others in theirs. Not that there's anything wrong with focusing on your own walk with God, at all. But lately He's been showing me that the main way to live is to try to love like He loves. If every action we ever made came from our love for God and other people, I really don't think there would be anything wrong in the world. If we truly love God, our love for others with come out of that.
This week, try to see others the way God does, and love them the way He loves. Unconditionally.

Loving God sums up the whole law (Matthew 22:38-40) and loving others. God calls us to be the salt to the earth. It's hard, but our faith is made perfect through our actions.

I love that song! :D
